Inspiring You to Travel Differently!
Gabriele Marewski is a Travel Adventurer
I have been traveling since 1969 and have seen 48 states and 54 countries.
In 2001 I took my first international hiking trip - walking across the foothills of the Himalayas. I solo walked the Camino Trail across Spain for 400 miles, and solo walked from Prague, Czech Republic to Tubingen, Germany logging 403 miles.
In 2012 I started adventure biking and have spun my wheels for 4,800 miles… so far.
Europe has over 30,000 miles of biking and hiking trails with another 25,000 miles in the works. There are 19 long distance routes called the EUROVELO. The shortest trail is 650 miles and the longest is 6,800 miles. My dream is to bike them all!
Travel is freedom!
2026 ~ ACROSS THE USA ON A MOTORCYCLE
While driving up and down mountains in the Balkans last year, I noticed motorcyclists taking curves with enviable ease and grace. It looked like so much fun! I realized I’m not excited about bicycling up mountains, but I could get excited about going up and down them on a motorcycle. I decided I need a motorcycle and riding one across the United States will be a great start to solo adventuring in this new way!
My plan for riding my new bike across the United States starts on the Blue Ridge Parkway which is just 1/2 mile from where I live in Asheville. I connect up with the Trans Am Trail‍ ‍in Cherokee, NC and I am on the TAT as I go cross country. It’s a popular route! My route crosses 11 states, covers 5,000 miles, and ends up in Portland, Oregon. In California, I leave the TAT and take Backcountry Discovery Routes through the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and then jump across to the newly released GPX Lost Coast Route that runs along the Pacific.
In addition to the great opportunity for taking amazing photographs, I look forward to the micro-engagements with people along the way! My planned departure is May 16th. I’ll be posting on Instagram @gabrieleonthego with the complete trip posted on this website after I get back.
